Himachal BJP To Boycott MLA Priority Meeting, Accuses Congress Of Harassment

The BJP in Himachal Pradesh will boycott the upcoming MLA priority meeting scheduled for February 3 and 4. Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur announced this decision on Sunday, citing a lack of action on issues raised by BJP MLAs.

Thakur criticized the Congress government for ignoring the priorities of BJP legislators over the past two years. “Our MLAs’ concerns are being sidelined, while Congress leaders are given undue importance,” he said.

He questioned the purpose of the priority meeting when the government fails to address the needs raised by BJP representatives. “When the Sukhu government ignores our priorities, what’s the point of such meetings?” Thakur remarked.

The former Chief Minister also accused the Congress of deliberately excluding BJP MLAs from inauguration events for projects started by the previous BJP-led government. “BJP representatives aren’t invited to these events, and their names aren’t even included on inauguration plaques,” he said.

Thakur further alleged that the Congress government is misusing its power to harass BJP MLAs. “Since the Congress lost the Rajya Sabha elections, they’ve been using the police to target BJP leaders and their families. Our MLAs are being falsely implicated in cases and harassed by lengthy police interrogations,” he added.
