As anticipation builds for the vote counting on 4 June, Delhi braces itself with stringent security arrangements across seven designated centers.
An official source confirmed on Monday that 7,000 police personnel will ensure law and order during the crucial process.
The counting process will commence on Tuesday at seven designated locations across the national capital.
These centers include Atal Adarsh Balika Vidyalaya in Gole Market, DTU in Shahbad Daulatpur, Jijabai ITI for Women in Siri Fort, Sports Complex in CWG Village, SKV in Bharat Nagar, and ITI in Nand Nagri.
Officials stated that they will open the strong rooms containing the ballots around 6:30 AM in the presence of the candidates.
The Lok Sabha elections held on May 25 saw a participation of 162 candidates across seven constituencies in Delhi, namely East Delhi, New Delhi, North East Delhi, North West Delhi, South Delhi, West Delhi, and Chandani Chowk.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the counting process, each counting center will be fortified with 1000 police personnel.
Additionally, a robust security system comprising over 200 CCTV cameras will monitor the premises, ensuring a three-layered security cover.
A senior police official remarked that they will further strengthen security in sensitive areas to uphold law and order during the counting process.
The electoral landscape in Delhi has witnessed significant shifts, particularly with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) restructuring its lineup, retaining only one of its sitting MPs, Manoj Tiwari from Northeast Delhi.
The party fielded six new candidates, including Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of late BJP stalwart Sushma Swaraj, from New Delhi.
In contrast, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress joined forces under the INDIA bloc for this election.
AAP contested in four constituencies while Congress vied for the remaining three seats.
The AAP candidates include Kuldeep Kumar, Sahiram Pehalwan, Mahabal Mishra, and Somnath Bharti, while Congress nominated Udit Raj, Jai Prakash Agarwal, and Kanhaiya Kumar.
As the political landscape evolves, all eyes are set on the outcome of the vote counting, with heightened security measures in place to ensure a fair and transparent process.
