Hemant Soren To Take Oath As Jharkhand CM For Fourth Time On Nov 28

Hemant Soren, leader of the INDIA Bloc, has staked his claim to form the next government in Jharkhand. After a meeting with newly elected MLAs, he met Governor Santosh Gangwar at Raj Bhavan. Soren submitted his resignation as Chief Minister and presented a list of 56 MLAs to prove his majority.

The Governor accepted Soren’s resignation and named him the caretaker Chief Minister. Soren will take the oath for his fourth term on November 28 at Morabadi Ground in Ranchi.

Hemant Soren’s Historic Fourth Term

Soren will become Jharkhand’s first leader to serve four terms as Chief Minister. He previously held the post in 2013, 2019, and briefly in 2024 after his release from jail. Before him, Shibu Soren and Arjun Munda served three terms each.

The INDIA Bloc secured a two-thirds majority in the 81-member Assembly. The alliance won 56 seats, with the JMM securing 34, Congress 16, RJD four, and CPI-ML-L two. This is Jharkhand’s first government with such a large majority.

Alliance Prepares for Swearing-In

Leaders from JMM, Congress, RJD, and CPI-ML-L met at Soren’s residence to plan the swearing-in ceremony. Discussions focused on the new government’s framework and guest invitations.

Soren congratulated the MLAs and thanked the people of Jharkhand for their support. He credited party workers for the alliance’s historic victory.
