Heavy Rain & Flooding Lead To Massive Train Disruptions In Andhra Pradesh, Telangana

South Central Railway (SCR) has announced the cancellation of 86 trains and the diversion of 70 others due to severe flooding and rain damage affecting Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

This marks the second consecutive day of significant train service interruptions as the region grapples with weather-induced track damage.

The ongoing monsoon has caused extensive damage to railway infrastructure, particularly in Telangana.

Several tracks, especially around Mahabubabad district, remain submerged or damaged, with concrete supports washed away in multiple locations.

This has led SCR to cancel various superfast and express trains operating through the affected areas.

Among the cancelled services are key routes including those between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, Guntur and Visakhapatnam, Rayagada and Guntur, and Vijayawada and Rajahmundry.

Long-distance trains such as the Puri-MGR Chennai Central, Puri-Tirupati, Ahmedabad-MGR Chennai Central, and others have also been suspended.

Local services, including trains like Kazipet-Dornakal and Vijayawada-Guntur, are among those affected.

In addition to cancellations, numerous trains have been diverted.

Notable diversions include services like the SMVT Bengaluru-Danapur, Danapur-SMVT Bengaluru, and Yesvantpur-Tuglakabad, among others.

Repair work is underway, with railway officials prioritizing the restoration of tracks between Kesamudram and Intikanne stations.

SCR anticipates that one line will be operational by Monday afternoon, under the close supervision of senior officials.

The disruptions have led to significant travel inconvenience across the region, impacting both local and long-distance passengers.

The railway authorities are working diligently to restore normalcy and minimize the impact on train services as quickly as possible.
