The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has appealed to residents to exercise extreme caution as continuous heavy rainfall continues to affect normal life across the region.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has urged citizens to leave their homes only when necessary and to remain alert to changing weather conditions.

Relentless rain has severely affected traffic movement on both the Pune-Mumbai Expressway and the old Mumbai-Pune Highway.

Vehicular movement has come to a complete standstill at several locations, while traffic is moving at a slow pace on other stretches due to waterlogging and poor visibility.

The water levels of the Pavana, Mula and Indrayani rivers have continued to rise, creating flood-like conditions in several areas.

As a precautionary measure, authorities have closed all bridges connecting Alandi and Dehu to vehicular traffic to ensure public safety and prevent accidents.

Heavy rainfall has caused severe waterlogging at the Nashik Phata, Punawale, and Tathawade underpasses, slowing traffic to a crawl.

Authorities have urged motorists to avoid these routes wherever possible and use alternative roads if travel cannot be postponed.

The police administration has advised residents to avoid stepping out unless essential.

Officials have also urged citizens to stay away from waterlogged roads and low-lying areas, remain vigilant, and strictly follow traffic police advisories to ensure their safety.

Officials emphasised that adhering to these precautions will help safeguard lives and minimise risks until the weather conditions improve.
