In a tragic incident that unfolded in Varanasi, five local boys lost their lives in a devastating drowning accident while bathing in the holy Ganga River at Ramnagar on Friday. The victims have been identified as Tausif (19), Fardeen (14), Shaif (15), Rizwan (15), and Saki (14), all hailing from the Barigadahi locality in Ramnagar.

Expressing his condolences, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended his sympathies and promptly directed the district magistrate and SSP to initiate a rapid rescue operation by involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

According to reports, the group of friends had gathered at the Sipahiya ghat of Ramnagar for a leisurely bath. Tragedy struck when one of them slipped into the deep waters while recording a video. Witnessing their friend’s distress, the others courageously leaped into the river in an attempt to save him.
