Heartbreaking Incident: Five Boys Tragically Drown In Varanasi's Ganga River
In a tragic incident that unfolded in Varanasi, five local boys lost their lives in a devastating drowning accident while bathing in the holy Ganga River at Ramnagar on Friday. The victims have been identified as Tausif (19), Fardeen (14), Shaif (15), Rizwan (15), and Saki (14), all hailing from the Barigadahi locality in Ramnagar.
Expressing his condolences, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended his sympathies and promptly directed the district magistrate and SSP to initiate a rapid rescue operation by involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
According to reports, the group of friends had gathered at the Sipahiya ghat of Ramnagar for a leisurely bath. Tragedy struck when one of them slipped into the deep waters while recording a video. Witnessing their friend’s distress, the others courageously leaped into the river in an attempt to save him. Heartbreakingly, all five boys met a tragic fate while valiantly trying to rescue each other.
As the horrifying incident unfolded, boatmen along the riverbank rushed to the scene upon hearing the screams for help. Regrettably, by the time they reached the midstream, it was too late, and all five friends had already drowned.
Local authorities, including the police and administrative officials, were swiftly alerted and immediately initiated a search and rescue operation. A large crowd of concerned citizens also gathered at the ghat. After two grueling hours, the bodies of the young victims were successfully recovered and transported to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital in Ramnagar, marking the somber end to this devastating tragedy.
