Authorities introduced Har Ghar Tiranga as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to encourage citizens to hoist the Tricolour at their homes.
The initiative seeks to make the national flag a more personal representation of citizens’ connection with India.
The campaign also aims to combine individual expressions of patriotism with a wider commitment to national unity and development.
The 2026 edition of Har Ghar Tiranga is centred on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram.
The campaign is using the milestone to celebrate the patriotic meaning associated with India’s National Song.
The theme also highlights the deep emotional connection between citizens, the Tricolour and the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on people nationwide to participate in Har Ghar Tiranga as Independence Day approaches on August 15. He encouraged citizens to commemorate the occasion by remembering the contribution and sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters.
PM Modi also asked people to reaffirm their commitment to the goal of building a Viksit Bharat.
The Prime Minister urged families across the country to make the campaign part of their Independence Day celebrations.
