Taking notes from communal violence-hit during the Hanuman Jayanti celebration at northwestern Delhi’s Jahangirpuri last year, the area is being regulated in consultation with its organizers, said the police officials.
Last year, on April 16, clashes had broken out between two communities in the area during a “Shobha Yatra” on Hanuman Jayanti.
According to the Delhi Police, the organizers had applied for permission to take out a Hanuman Jayanti procession in the area, and the route has been regulated.
Speaking to the media, Delhi Police said on Shobha Yatra in the Jahangirpuri area on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, “The route has been prepared. In order to maintain law and order, permission has been given to take out the Shobha Yatra within a certain distance. Discussion was held with the organising committee and an appeal has been made to take out the Yatra as per law and order.”
Taking to Twitter, Delhi Police has stated statements issued by the Special Commissioner of Police (law and order) Deependra Pathak and wrote, “Hanuman Jayanti celebration at Jahangirpuri is being regulated in consultation with the organisers. We are ensuring that it takes place in a safe and secure manner.”
On Tuesday, the police personnel also took out a flag march in the Jahangirpuri area.
