Hanuman Jayanti: ‘Shobha Yatra’ Is On! But, Here Are Some Conditions By Delhi Police

Taking notes from communal violence-hit during the Hanuman Jayanti celebration at northwestern Delhi’s Jahangirpuri last year, the area is being regulated in consultation with its organizers, said the police officials.

Last year, on April 16, clashes had broken out between two communities in the area during a “Shobha Yatra” on Hanuman Jayanti.

Routes prepared, maintain law and order: Delhi Police

According to the Delhi Police, the organizers had applied for permission to take out a Hanuman Jayanti procession in the area, and the route has been regulated.

Speaking to the media, Delhi Police said on Shobha Yatra in the Jahangirpuri area on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, “The route has been prepared. In order to maintain law and order, permission has been given to take out the Shobha Yatra within a certain distance. Discussion was held with the organising committee and an appeal has been made to take out the Yatra as per law and order.”

Taking to Twitter, Delhi Police has stated statements issued by the Special Commissioner of Police (law and order) Deependra Pathak and wrote, “Hanuman Jayanti celebration at Jahangirpuri is being regulated in consultation with the organisers. We are ensuring that it takes place in a safe and secure manner.”

On Tuesday, the police personnel also took out a flag march in the Jahangirpuri area.

MHA urges to ensures law & order during Hanuman Jayanti

Moreover, the Union Home Ministry has asked all states to ensure law and order during Hanuman Jayanti and monitor any factor that could disturb peace and harmony in society.

Following the communal tension prevailing in several states since last week, the MHA’s advisory to all states and Union territories aimed at sensitising law enforcement agencies.

The home ministry also tweeted, “The MHA has issued an advisory to all states in preparation for Hanuman Jayanti. The governments are encouraged to ensure the maintenance of law and order, peaceful observance of the festival, and monitoring of any factors that could disturb communal harmony in society.”

As per the sources, the advisory has been sent to the Chief Secretaries and the Director Generals of Police of all States.
