Gurugram Experiences Severe Waterlogging Following Heavy Rain, Interrupting Traffic

Due to the heavy rains this morning, Gurugram had major waterlogging in some areas. Images shared on social media showed pedestrians wading through knee-deep water and commuters stranded on flooded highways.

A news agency ANI video clip from the Delhi-Gurugram Motorway shows people walking on highways while partially submerged in water and some even sitting on top of moving vehicles.

The Delhi-Jaipur highway’s Narsinghpur section, among other areas of Gurugram, were reportedly inundated, according to the police.

Although there were no reports of significant traffic jams, they said that schoolchildren and office workers had to deal with inconveniences because traffic on the highway moved slowly for a while.

On Saturday, internal roads were flooded in addition to the typical wet areas on arterial highways. The district administration reports that between 5:10 and 6:30 am, the city received 66 mm of rain.

Narsinghpur, Golf Course Road Extension, Pataudi Chowk, Udyog Vihar, AIT Chowk, Sohna Road, Subhash Chowk, Vatika Chowk, sectors 4, 9, 10, 14, 38, 45, 54, and 100 to 104, as well as Basai Road, were among the impacted locations. However, no significant traffic congestion was observed, according to the traffic police.

Traffic officials are stationed around the city to handle any scenario, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Virender Vij, and traffic movement remained unaffected everywhere.
After a prolonged period of humidity, heavy rain fell in some areas of Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram today.

Images from Dwarka and Badarpur in Delhi also displayed moving automobiles through flooded streets.

More rain is expected today, according to the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC).

“Generally overcast skies. storms or a light rain. The weather office reported that the highest and minimum temperatures would be about 35 and 27, respectively.
