Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday and reviewed a range of development and public welfare initiatives being implemented across the state, with a focus on natural farming, electricity conservation and rural development.

During the meeting, the Governor briefed the Prime Minister on the progress of Gujarat’s natural farming movement and the outcomes achieved through ongoing efforts to encourage farmers to adopt chemical-free agricultural practices.

According to officials, a statewide campaign is being carried out to promote natural farming and strengthen cow-based agriculture.

Governor Acharya Devvrat said the initiative aims to help farmers transition towards poison-free natural farming while reducing dependence on chemical inputs. He also highlighted measures being undertaken to spread awareness about sustainable agricultural practices among farming communities.

The Governor also informed the Prime Minister about electricity conservation initiatives being implemented across Gujarat. He said a power-saving campaign is being carried out in mission mode under directions issued through the Raj Bhavan.

The programme is being implemented across government offices, universities, municipalities and municipal corporations. It aims to promote efficient energy use in line with national goals.

The discussion further covered Gram Kalyan programmes being conducted in rural areas of the state.

Governor Acharya Devvrat briefed the Prime Minister on village-level initiatives related to sanitation, tree plantation, environmental conservation, education, value-based learning, employment generation, healthcare, de-addiction, animal husbandry and awareness of government welfare schemes. He also highlighted efforts to promote natural farming and strengthen social harmony through community participation and grassroots engagement.

The Governor shared feedback gathered during his interactions with villagers across Gujarat. He noted that rural communities had responded positively to ongoing welfare and development initiatives.

Review of Welfare Programmes

The meeting formed part of a broader review of ongoing programmes. The discussions focused on improving rural livelihoods and advancing sustainable agriculture. They also reviewed efforts to enhance the delivery of public welfare services across Gujarat.
