Growth-Driven Budget To Build India As Vishwa Guru; Says Mumbai BJP MLA Ameet Satam

Mumbai BJP President and MLA Ameet Satam on Tuesday described the Union Budget presented by the Modi government as development-focused, growth-driven, and practical.

He said the budget outlines decisive measures to accelerate Mumbai’s expansion as India’s financial capital, while supporting employment creation and long-term economic strength.

Satam said the budget reflects the government’s broader vision of positioning India as a Vishwa Guru.

He noted that India has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy and has recorded one of the fastest recoveries globally after the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to him, the latest fiscal roadmap reinforces that momentum through targeted investments and structural reforms.

Commenting on announcements made by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Satam highlighted the proposal to develop seven high-speed rail corridors across the country.

He said the Mumbai-Pune corridor would significantly improve connectivity between the two cities, reduce travel time, and support economic activity across the region.

Satam also underlined the importance of tax exemptions announced for tunnel boring machine (TBM) manufacturers.

He said the move would boost Mumbai’s 70-km ‘Paatal Lok’ tunnel to ease traffic.

Ameet Satam said Mumbai has 13 metro projects, many using previously imported TBMs.

He said the budget’s incentives for domestic TBM manufacturing would reduce India’s reliance on imports from countries such as China.

The move would promote self-reliance under the Make in India initiative.

This, he added, would also lower project costs and improve execution timelines for urban infrastructure.

Satam welcomed the announcement of SHE-Marts, which aim to strengthen women-led self-help groups.

He said the initiative would support women entrepreneurs, particularly those engaged in small-scale and home-based businesses.

Ameet Satam also pointed to incentive grants for municipal bonds issued by large cities.

Satam said bonds exceeding ₹1,000 crore would be eligible for grants of up to ₹100 crore.

He added that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation would gain significantly from this.

The Mumbai BJP chief further noted budgetary support for the Indian Institute of Creative Technology in Mumbai.

The funding will help establish laboratories for visual effects, gaming, and comics content creation in 15,000 schools and 500 colleges.

He said recognising MSMEs as a growth engine would strengthen Mumbai’s industrial ecosystem.

MLA Ameet Satam added that providing ₹7 lakh crore in liquidity would create substantial employment across sectors.
