Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis Welcomed At Rashtrapati Bhawan By PM Modi; Going To Be Chief Guest Of Raisina Dialogue

On a state visit to India, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis arrived in the nation’s capital on Tuesday and was greeted at Rashtrapati Bhawan by Prime Minister Modi. At the airport, Union Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakashi Lekhi greeted the Greek PM. Interestingly, Mitsotakis will be the speaker and chief guest at the Raisina Dialogue 2024, which will be held on February 21–23.

Greek PM greeted ceremoniously in Rashtrapati Bhawan

Along with the bilateral talks between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Mitsotakis, the schedule includes a luncheon that PM Modi is hosting in honor of the Greek PM.  At the conference with him are Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, numerous other foreign dignitaries, and a delegation of powerful business people will be there.

Earlier on Tuesday, India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis met to talk about strengthening India-Greece cooperation as well as India-Europe cooperation.
Following the negotiations, Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited Rajghat in Delhi to honor Mahatma Gandhi with his wife  Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotakis.

Raisina Dialogue organized in India

For the Raisina Dialogue, a number of foreign ministers have also traveled to India. These ministers are Tobias Billstrom of Sweden, Krisjanis Karins of Latvia, DN Dhungyel of Bhutan, Gabrielius Landsbergis of Lithuania, and Margus Tsahkna of Estonia. Among the delegates are the foreign ministers of the Netherlands, Hanke Bruinslot, and the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanar.

Global problems are the focus of India’s premier geopolitical and geoeconomic forum, the Raisina Dialogue. The Ministry of External Affairs, in partnership with the Observer Research Foundation, is organizing the ninth edition, which is scheduled to occur in Delhi.
Notably, this is the first bilateral visit by a Head of State or Head of Government from Greece to India in fifteen years. Greece’s latest prime ministerial visit to India took place in 2008. A “Strategic Partnership” was established between Greece and India during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s August 2023 visit. During his tour, PM Mitsotakis is also expected to visit Mumbai.
