P. Datchanamurthy, a master of the Thavil instrument, will be awarded the Padma Shri for his unparalleled contributions to South Indian music. With a career spanning over five decades, he has played a pivotal role in preserving and promoting this classical art form.
L. Hangthing, a fruit farmer from Noklak district in Nagaland, will be recognized for his innovative agricultural practices. Over the past 30 years, he has successfully cultivated non-native fruits, inspiring farmers across the region.
Kuwait-based yoga practitioner Sheikh AJ Al Sabah will receive the Padma Shri for his contributions to yoga. As the founder of Kuwait’s first licensed yoga studio, ‘Daratma,’ he has promoted yoga across the Gulf region. His initiatives, such as the ‘Shams Youth Yoga’ curriculum and humanitarian efforts for Yemeni refugees, have garnered widespread admiration.
Brazilian spiritual teacher Jonas Masetti, also known as ‘Vishwanath,’ will be honored for promoting Indian Vedanta and philosophy worldwide. A former mechanical engineer turned guru, he founded the institute ‘Vishwa Vidya,’ impacting over 1.5 lakh students through his teachings.
Hugh and Colleen Gantzer, known as the “OG Travel Bloggers,” will be awarded the Padma Shri for revolutionizing Indian travel journalism. Over five decades, they highlighted India’s hidden tourist gems, culture, and traditions through 30 books and over 3,000 articles.
Hariman Sharma, a fruit farmer from Himachal Pradesh, will receive the Padma Shri for developing the HRMN 99 apple variety. This innovation enables apple cultivation at altitudes as low as 1,800 feet, opening new avenues in apple farming.
