Google Doodle Commemorates India’s Historic Achievement Of Successful Landing Of Chandrayaan-3 On Moon’s South Pole

India’s remarkable achievement of being the first country to successfully land on the Moon’s South Pole was commemorated by Google through a doodle. The doodle depicted the spacecraft’s journey as it maneuvered around the Moon’s orbit before gently landing on its surface. The Moon itself seemed to express satisfaction and approval at the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft.

At precisely 6:04 pm on August 23, the Vikram lander of Chandrayaan-3 achieved a gentle and precise landing on the Moon’s surface near the South Pole. The remarkable feat followed a 17-minute powered descent and marked a historic moment as the first successful spacecraft landing in this previously uncharted lunar territory.

India’s triumphant achievement of a gentle lunar landing has propelled it into an exclusive league of nations that have accomplished spacecraft landings on the Moon’s surface. This esteemed group includes the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union. The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft’s journey began with its launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota Range on July 14. It culminated in a successful touchdown near the lunar South Pole region on a Wednesday.

The Moon’s South Pole has captivated space explorers due to its potential for harboring ice deposits within perpetually shadowed craters. Chandrayaan-3’s recent success has substantiated this hypothesis, confirming the presence of these ice deposits as stated in a blog post.

He expressed optimism that this achievement will pave the way for upcoming lunar missions by various nations. He added, “I’m confident that countries worldwide can set their sights on the moon and beyond. The sky knows no bounds!”
