Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the seventh edition of Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai on Tuesday, September 8.

The event will continue until September 11 and is expected to attract policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, technology companies, investors and members of academia.

According to the Press Information Bureau, the festival has grown into an international platform for examining developments shaping the future of finance since its establishment in 2020.

Organisers have selected ‘Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum – Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance’ as this year’s theme.

The programme will examine the intersection of regulation, policymaking, technology, investment and industry.

Participants will explore how Agentic AI, programmable finance, quantum technologies and other emerging innovations can produce reliable and inclusive financial services.

The discussions will examine India’s progress in digital payments and financial inclusion while considering how technological capabilities can translate into tangible benefits worldwide.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently described Mumbai as more than India’s financial capital, calling it the country’s Fintech Capital. He said Mumbai could combine its established banking and capital-market infrastructure with modern digital systems to create a comprehensive fintech ecosystem.

Fadnavis pointed to Maharashtra’s strong position in startups, venture capital and unicorns, with fintech companies contributing significantly to the state’s growth.

Industry department sources said Maharashtra hosts more than 60 per cent of India’s data-centre capacity, with operational capacity crossing 1 GW.

The state has introduced dedicated fintech policies that include plug-and-play parks, single-window approvals and quicker land allocation.

Authorities are additionally developing AI Innovation Parks, cyber-security centres and digital public infrastructure. These measures will strengthen financial technology networks and expand secure digital financial solutions across India and international markets.
