Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged India’s Gen Z to use their energy, creativity and talent to help realise the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, while calling them the country’s ‘Amrit Peedhi’.
Addressing young people during the launch of the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan’ via video conferencing, PM Modi said the commitment shown by the younger generation in fighting drug abuse had reinforced his belief that India’s youth is ‘aware, socially conscious and serious about their duties’.
The nationwide campaign, led by MY Bharat youth volunteers, seeks to mobilise young people against substance abuse and promote the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat through public participation.
PM Modi said the next 20–25 years would shape both India’s youth and the nation’s future, urging young people to stay away from drugs and use their energy and talent to build Viksit Bharat 2047. He warned that drug abuse destroys individual lives, weakens the nation and can be exploited by hostile forces, urging every young Indian to reject addiction.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said drugs provide only temporary pleasure while causing lasting damage to families and society.
PM Modi said the next 100 Sundays would mark 100 steps towards a drug-free India through sports, meditation, cultural events and awareness drives. He noted that 125 spiritual organisations had adopted the Kashi Declaration, a five-year anti-drug roadmap.
The Prime Minister also urged families and educators to identify early warning signs, maintain open communication and seek timely professional help.
