After the completion of the postmortem, the body of gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari departed for his native place in Ghazipur amidst stringent security measures, as confirmed by police officials.
The ambulance carrying Ansari’s body was escorted by a convoy of police vehicles along the 400-kilometer-long route, spanning several districts of Uttar Pradesh, to ensure safety.
Following the postmortem conducted at the Rani Durgavati Medical College, Banda, a convoy comprising 26 vehicles commenced its journey to Ghazipur at 5.45 pm. This convoy, including 24 police vehicles accompanying the ambulance, also featured two vehicles belonging to Ansari’s family, according to police reports.
Inside the ambulance carrying the body were Mukhtar Ansari’s son Umar Ansari, Abbas Ansari’s wife, and their two cousins, as confirmed by police sources.
The state government had meticulously planned the route for transporting Ansari’s body after his demise due to cardiac arrest on Thursday.
En route to Ghazipur, the convoy traversed districts including Prayagraj, Bhadohi, Kaushambi, and Varanasi before reaching its destination. Family members disclosed that the cremation would be held in Ghazipur.

Preparations for Ansari’s burial are underway at the family graveyard in Mohammadabad’s Kali Bagh, Ghazipur. The timing of the last rites is contingent upon the arrival of the body.
Security has been bolstered in Ghazipur and neighboring districts, including Mau, in anticipation of the funeral proceedings.
According to family sources, Ansari’s body will be interred at the Kali Bagh graveyard, situated approximately half a kilometer from the Ansari family’s residence. It’s noted that the graves of Ansari’s parents are located within the same cemetery.
Officials project that Ansari’s body will reach Ghazipur by late evening.
Stringent security measures have been implemented from the Ansari family residence to the graveyard, with barricades erected at strategic locations.
Circle Officer Atar Singh and Station House Officer Pawan Kumar Upadhyay of the Mohammadabad police station confirmed that a burial pit has been prepared, and the timing of the burial will be determined upon the body’s arrival.
The SHO further conveyed that Ansari’s family members have indicated that if the body arrives by 10 pm, the cremation will proceed on Friday; otherwise, it will be postponed until Saturday morning.
