Ganesh Chaturthi 2026: PM Modi Wishes Citizens On Auspicious Festival

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended greetings to citizens on Ganesh Chaturthi, praying that the sacred festival brings renewed energy, fresh enthusiasm and prosperity to people’s lives while contributing to the nation’s continued progress.

In a post on X, PM Modi wished citizens on the festival and invoked Lord Ganesha, revered as the remover of obstacles. He prayed that divine blessings help people succeed in their endeavours and guide the country towards constant progress. He concluded his message with, ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya!’

PM Modi shared a Sanskrit verse dedicated to Lord Shri Vinayaka. The prayer praises Lord Ganesha’s divine attributes, including his association with modakas, the crescent moon on his forehead and his role as the protector and supreme lord of the universe. It recalls his victory over the demon Gajasura and his ability to relieve devotees of suffering.

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, whom devotees worship as the deity of wisdom, prosperity and new beginnings. People traditionally seek his blessings before beginning important endeavours.

Devotees across India, particularly in Maharashtra, celebrate the festival with great enthusiasm. They bring elaborately crafted Ganesha idols into homes and public pandals and organise devotional ceremonies and cultural programmes.

People offer prayers, flowers, sweets and other offerings to the deity throughout the celebrations.

This year, devotees are celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14.

The festivities will conclude with Anant Chaturdashi on September 25, when devotees traditionally carry Ganesha idols in processions before immersing them in water.
