Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday extended greetings to citizens on Hindi Diwas, highlighting the language’s important role in strengthening public communication, good governance and national integration. He called for empowering all Indian languages, including Hindi.
In a post on X, Shah said Hindi, as the official language, continues to contribute significantly to public communication, good governance and national integration. He noted that the language is progressing alongside other Indian languages and is increasingly making its presence felt in technology and research.

Shah paid tribute to personalities who made lasting contributions to the development and enrichment of Hindi. He urged citizens to use Hindi alongside other Indian languages and work towards strengthening the country’s rich linguistic heritage.
The Home Minister emphasised the importance of empowering all Indian languages, saying Hindi’s progress should go hand in hand with the development of other languages. His message highlighted the role of linguistic diversity in strengthening India’s cultural and national identity.
Hindi Diwas marks the Constituent Assembly’s adoption of Hindi in Devanagari as the Union’s official language on September 14, 1949. The first Hindi Diwas took place in 1953 and has been observed annually since then.
Shah’s message on Hindi Diwas highlighted the evolving role of Hindi in emerging fields, particularly technology and research, while stressing the need to strengthen all Indian languages.
