The Gandhi Mandela Foundation, in association with Bharat Bharati and Navchetna Foundation, organised a grand International Yoga Day celebration at Deer Park, Hauz Khas, New Delhi.
The event gained special significance as the Foundation’s Yoga Shakha initiative approaches the landmark achievement of completing 1,000 days of continuous yogic practice.
Held for the fourth consecutive year, the programme focused on encouraging a healthy lifestyle, mental well-being, social harmony, and national unity through Yoga.
Participants gathered to celebrate the transformative impact of regular yogic practice on individuals and communities.
The event was attended by several prominent personalities, including Olympian and international hockey player Ashok Kumar Dhyan Chand, former Enforcement Directorate Special Director SK Panda, senior BJP leader Mohammad Irfan Ahmad, and Vivek Ji, Chief Operating Officer of the Indian Paralympic Association.
Volunteers and members of the Gandhi Mandela Foundation also participated in large numbers.
Key Messages
Addressing the gathering, Mohammad Irfan Ahmad described Yoga as a complete way of life that strengthens individuals physically, mentally, and spiritually. He said Yoga continues to spread the message of peace, balance, and well-being across society.
Ashok Kumar Dhyan Chand emphasised the close connection between Yoga and sports, noting that it enhances concentration, endurance, and overall performance. He further encouraged young people to make Yoga a part of their daily routine.
SK Panda highlighted Yoga as a valuable component of India’s cultural heritage and urged the younger generation to embrace the practice regularly.
Welcoming the guests, Advocate Dr Nandan Jha, Secretary General of the Gandhi Mandela Foundation and Convener of the event, said the approaching 1,000-day milestone reflects the success of Yoga Shakha in promoting discipline, positive thinking, and healthy living.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to guests, participants, partner organisations, and volunteers.
Organisers reaffirmed their commitment to advancing public welfare, health awareness, national unity, and service to humanity through Yoga.
The event served as both a celebration of International Yoga Day and a movement towards a healthier and more harmonious society.
