G20 Gala Dinner
President Droupadi Murmu played host to a remarkable gala dinner for the G20 leaders on Saturday evening, following the first day’s proceedings of the G20 Summit. The event saw the participation of top leaders, including US President Joe Biden, and took place at the prestigious ‘Bharat Mandapam’ in New Delhi, the chosen venue for the G20 Summit.
As leaders from around the world arrived at the venue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a warm welcome, engaging in brief yet meaningful interactions. The backdrop of Nalanda University’s image added a touch of cultural significance to these exchanges. This gesture echoed PM Modi’s earlier welcome to leaders at the start of the Summit, where he introduced the Konark wheel of Odisha in the background.
During the gala dinner, a set of pictures shared by the Prime Minister on his Instagram account today captured a unique blend of political camaraderie. PM Modi seized the opportunity to meet key opposition leaders, namely Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

Prime Minister Modi introduced Nitish Kumar and Hemant Soren to US President Joe Biden during the gala dinner. The event also featured PM Modi engaging in a conversation with Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
This meeting held particular significance as it marked the first interaction between PM Modi and Nitish Kumar since the latter’s party, JD(U), parted ways with the BJP last year to join the Mahagathbandhan, forming a coalition government with RJD and other Opposition parties. Nitish Kumar is actively spearheading Opposition unity and is part of the Opposition’s I.N.D.I.A alliance, aimed at challenging the Modi government’s power in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
India showcased its rich and diverse musical heritage

Traditional music from various regions of the country took center stage, with the mesmerizing ‘Gandharva Atodyam’ serving as the evening’s crowning jewel. This unique musical medley featured an exquisite symphony of musical instruments from across India, highlighting Hindustani, Carnatic, Folk, and Contemporary music, all brought together by classical instruments in a captivating ensemble.
