Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented a curated collection of cultural and spiritual gifts to Vietnamese President To Lam during his three-day visit to India. The gifts reflected India’s artistic heritage, traditional craftsmanship, and spiritual symbolism.
Among the most distinctive offerings was the Namoh 108 lotus, a specially developed variety of India’s national flower created by the National Botanical Research Institute in Lucknow.
The lotus features exactly 108 petals, a number regarded as sacred in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.
The flower symbolises spiritual harmony, meditation, and cosmic balance. Its name derives from the Sanskrit expression meaning salutation or reverence.
Prime Minister Modi also gifted a handcrafted brass sculpture of Lord Buddha seated beneath an intricately designed Bodhi tree canopy.
The sculpture portrayed Buddha in the Abhaya Mudra, symbolising fearlessness and protection, while the left hand held a bowl representing compassion.
Artisans from Moradabad crafted the detailed artwork using traditional brass techniques.
The gesture carried added significance as President To Lam had earlier visited the Mahabodhi Temple for prayers.
Another ceremonial gift included luxurious Banarasi silk fabric from Varanasi. The fabric featured elegant floral jacquard patterns designed to complement the traditional Vietnamese Ao dai.
The hospitality menu showcased regional delicacies from Bihar and Maharashtra, including Silao Khaja, Gaya Anarsa, Mithila Makhana, Hajipur Malbhog Banana, Ratnagiri Alphonso mangoes, and nutritious millet bars.
Several products carried Geographical Indication recognition for their authenticity and quality.
The presentation highlighted India’s cultural diversity, agricultural heritage, and evolving culinary innovation while strengthening diplomatic ties through shared traditions and symbolic exchanges.
