PM Modi Meet Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy

On Thursday, former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and his son, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H D Kumaraswamy, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his admiration for the meeting on social media.

PM Modi shared on X that he honored meeting former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, valuing his wisdom and perspective on various subjects. Modi also expressed gratitude for the artwork H D Deve Gowda presented, which reminded him of his recent visit to Kanyakumari.

This meeting occurs against a backdrop of escalating political tensions in Karnataka.

Allegations of corruption linked to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, purportedly involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, have roiled the state.

Meanwhile, the controversy has seen BJP leaders taking to the streets and submitting a memorandum to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, demanding Siddaramaiah’s resignation.

Union Minister Kumaraswamy has called on senior advocates to petition the Governor for consent to prosecute Siddaramaiah, aiming to push the MUDA scam investigation to its conclusion.

Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has fiercely criticized the BJP’s actions, accusing them of hypocrisy and corruption during their tenure.

Shivakumar asserted that the previous BJP administration was riddled with irregularities, particularly in the allocation of MUDA sites, and promised that the government would soon release detailed information.

He stated that investigations are underway to uncover the scandals involving BJP MLAs, ministers, and former Chief Ministers B.S. Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai. Shivakumar claimed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has already detailed their scandals in the Assembly, and accused the BJP of trying to obstruct proceedings to avoid exposure.
