Former MLA Ranbir Singh Kharb and his wife have been handed a seven-year jail term by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court in connection with a 17-year-old cheating case. The court has also levied a fine of Rs 44 lakhs on the couple.
This case revolves around allegations of deceiving investors by promising high returns. The convicted individuals have been ordered to surrender themselves today.

It’s worth noting that in 2009, a trial court had already sent Ranbir Singh Kharb and his wife Anita to 14 days of judicial custody. They were accused of defrauding investors of more than Rs 3 crores through a chit fund company.
Furthermore, the court has requested a response from Tihar Jail authorities regarding a plea filed by Kharb. He is seeking amenities such as access to television and newspapers, akin to those available to former legislators during judicial custody.
