While the entire world eagerly awaits Ram Mandir’s ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, the first glimpse of the idol of Ram Lalla erected inside the sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha) of the temple has surfaced online. Crafted by Mysuru-based artist Arun Yogiraj, the 51-inch idol, made of black stone, depicts a five-year-old Lord Ram standing on a lotus.
Weighing between 150 to 200 kg, the idol can be seen concealed in a veil while being placed in the sanctum sanctorum on Thursday. The placement ceremony captured the attention of onlookers, contributing to their anticipation for the grand consecration.
The sacred rituals were led by Vedic Brahmins and Acharyas, ensuring the sanctity of the proceedings within the Sri Ram Temple. Members of the Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad actively participated in the worship ceremonies. According to the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, prayers were chanted all along while the ceremony was conducted.
Arun Dixit, a priest associated with the consecration ceremony, as cited by media reports, revealed that the ‘pradhan sankalp’ was performed by Anil Mishra, a member of the trust.
He further added that the idea behind ‘pradhan sankalp’ is that the ‘pratishtha’ of Lord Ram is being done for the welfare of the nation, humanity and for all those who contributed to work related to Ram Mandir.
The upcoming ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, scheduled for January 22, is poised to be a momentous occasion, drawing thousands of dignitaries and individuals from all walks of life. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend, adding a national resonance to the event. The ceremony will adhere to Shaastriya (scriptural) protocols, taking place in the auspicious ‘Abhijeet Muhurta’ in the afternoon.
Additionally, other rituals including giving ‘Vastras’ to Brahmins, and assigning work to everyone were also done on Thursday.
As the preparations unfold, with over 400 saints expected to gather in Ayodhya, the atmosphere is charged with excitement. This divine moment on January 22nd promises to be a historic culmination, allowing all present to witness the divine presence of Lord Ram Lalla. Ayodhya, as the birthplace of Lord Ram, stands as a symbol of spiritual, historical, and cultural significance, weaving a rich tapestry into the fabric of India’s heritage.
