The Federal Bank Naya Raipur Soldierathon will celebrate India’s historic victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak War and honor the nation’s brave soldiers. The marathon, a collaboration between Fitistan – Ek Fit Bharat, the Indian Army’s Chhattisgarh & Odisha Sub-Area, and the Chhattisgarh State Government, will take place on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Central Park, Naya Raipur, on the eve of Vijay Diwas.
Inspiring Legacy of Soldierathon
Founded by Major Dr Surendra Poonia, VSM, under the guidance of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the Soldierathon is India’s largest marathon dedicated to soldiers. The event, previously held in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune, is making its debut in Central India.
It aims to support the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center in Pune, which aids wounded soldiers. Participants will also get a chance to run alongside Indian Army soldiers, fostering a sense of pride and unity.
Unique Experience for Runners
The marathon features pollution-free, traffic-free routes with categories for all age groups:
- 21K (Timed): 16+ years
- 10K (Timed): 14+ years
- 5K Run/Walk (Non-Timed): 8+ years
- 3K Run/Walk: 6+ years
Runners will receive kits with T-shirts, medals, and certificates. Registrations are open until December 8, 2024.
General VK Singh praised the route, calling it ideal for runners, while Brigadier Aman Anand highlighted its role in strengthening ties between the Armed Forces and the community.
