Punjab’s Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, Gurmeet Singh Khudian, assured farmers on Monday that their demands are the AAP government’s top priority. After meeting with farmers gathered under the banners of BKU (Ugrahan) and Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union (PKMU), Khudian received their memorandum and pledged that their concerns would be discussed with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Khudian emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and invited them for talks. He stressed the Bhagwant Mann-led government’s eagerness to engage with farmers, understand their perspectives, and address their issues effectively.

“The Punjab government is dedicated to the wellbeing and prosperity of its farmers, who are the backbone of the state’s economy,” Khudian told the media after the meeting. He highlighted that this dialogue aims to find solutions to the farmers’ challenges and empower them to thrive in a changing agricultural landscape.
Khudian reiterated that the government remains committed to supporting and uplifting the farming community, recognizing their significant contributions to the state’s economy and society. He affirmed the government’s intention to work collaboratively with farmers to address their concerns and ensure their continued prosperity.
Thousands of farmers and farm laborers from the Bharti Kisan Union (Ugrahan) and Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), representing 37 unions, gathered to protest the AAP government’s failure to implement the agriculture policy. The farmers marched toward the Punjab Assembly, where they planned to camp until September 5. Their demands include the implementation of the agriculture policy, land distribution to landless laborers, and loan waivers for farmers and laborers.
