According to authorities, a man who was impersonating a Navy officer was arrested for soliciting money from unemployed teenagers under the pretence of offering them jobs.
According to a senior police officer, the suspect has been identified as Surya Chalapathirao, also known as Shashikanth.
DCP Anand Reddy reported that the man had a car, a uniform for naval duty, a laptop, a phoney identification card, and original certifications taken from him. He also claimed that the man had deceived 30 unemployed kids.
“Chalapathi Rao is ensnaring jobless people by posing as a navy commander. Agnipath Remedial Verification for ‘Agnipath’ applicants was carried out by Naval officials on Wednesday at the Naval Canteen within the boundaries of the Malappuram Police Station. In the pretence of providing work, he went there and tried to con unemployed youth into handing him money, according to DCP Reddy.

The DCP went on to say, “Naval officers felt suspicious and inquired about him. They contacted the neighbourhood police right away, and he was taken into custody.
The DCP claims that he defrauded unemployed people while claiming to be a military commander.
According to DCP Reddy, Chalapathirao had previously been the target of four further cases in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
