On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honoured the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, observed nationwide as Engineers’ Day. He further praised Visvesvaraya for his remarkable achievements that left a lasting impact on India’s engineering and technological progress.
The Prime Minister highlighted the indispensable role of engineers in fostering innovation across multiple sectors and in shaping a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Today, on Engineers’ Day, I pay homage to Sir M. Visvesvaraya, whose brilliance left an indelible mark on India’s engineering landscape. I extend warm greetings to all engineers who, through their creativity and determination, continue to drive innovation and tackle tough challenges across sectors. Our engineers will continue playing a crucial role in the collective efforts to build a Viksit Bharat.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his greetings to engineers, appreciating their pivotal role in driving technological progress.
“Greetings to all the engineers on #EngineersDay. Your vision, innovation, and dedication are fast advancing India to the pinnacle of technological progress. On the Jayanti of Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya Ji, I bow to the legendary engineer who set us on this transformative path,” he posted.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda joined the tributes, lauding engineers’ creativity and commitment.
Taking to X, he posted, “Greetings to all engineers on this Engineer’s Day. Your dedication and ideas keep India moving forward and make our growth story stronger every day.”
“On this occasion, I pay my heartfelt tribute to Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya on his birth anniversary, whose vision and pioneering work continue to inspire generations of engineers across India,” the post added.
Engineers’ Day is observed every year on 15 September to honour the birth of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, widely celebrated as one of India’s greatest engineers.
His innovative work transformed India’s infrastructure with practical designs, forward-thinking solutions, and planning that merged technical skill with societal progress.
Visvesvaraya’s influence extended beyond engineering. He was an economist, writer, statesman, served as the Diwan of Mysore, and presided over the All-India Manufacturers’ Organisation.
Honoured with the Bharat Ratna in 1955, he continues to inspire engineers and policymakers across the nation.
From modest beginnings to extraordinary accomplishments, his legacy continues to set a benchmark in innovation, problem-solving, and nation-building, cementing his place as one of the most impactful figures in modern Indian history.
