‘Energy To Education, Trade To Technology’: PM Modi Shares Highlights From His Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (February 14) shared key moments from his recent visit to the United States, calling it “extremely fruitful.”

In a post on X, Modi shared a 3-minute, 45-second video showcasing important discussions and engagements. He noted, “From energy to education, trade to technology, and AI to space…many issues discussed,” as the video highlighted his interactions with US officials, business leaders, and President Donald Trump.

Modi’s Key Meetings In Washington

The video begins with Modi receiving a ceremonial welcome at the Blair House, the official guest residence of the US President.

He then meets top US officials, including Secretary of State Mark Rubio and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. A key moment was his interaction with tech billionaire Elon Musk, highlighting India’s focus on technological innovation.

The trip’s highlight was Modi’s meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House. The two leaders shared a warm embrace, signaling strong diplomatic ties. Their joint media briefing emphasized expanding India-US cooperation across various sectors.

Strengthening The India-US Partnership

During discussions, Modi and Trump talked about ways to enhance economic and strategic relations. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) shared details, saying,
“PM @narendramodi and @POTUS @realDonaldTrump held productive discussions in Washington DC. They deliberated on ways to strengthen the India-US partnership across various sectors.”

Trump also posted pictures from the meeting, reaffirming his commitment to closer ties between the two democracies.

Key Focus Areas: Trade, Technology, And Defense

The visit saw talks on several key areas, including:

Advancing Defence Cooperation: The leaders reaffirmed their strong commitment to a dynamic defense partnership that spans multiple domains.

Boosting Trade & Investment Between India & US: The leaders announced an ambitious trade goal, Mission 500, aimed at doubling bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030. To achieve this, they pledged to negotiate a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) by the fall of 2025, focusing on creating fair trade terms, reducing barriers, and enhancing market access.

Two Leaders Announce US-India TRUST: Recognizing the importance of technological leadership, the two leaders announced the launch of the US-India TRUST (Transforming the Relationship Utilizing Strategic Technology) initiative.

Counterterrorism & Global Security: Terrorism and security threats were major topics of discussion. The leaders committed to strengthening their cooperation to combat terrorism from groups such as Al-Qa’ida, ISIS, and Lashkar-e-Tayyiba.

In conclusion, Modi’s visit reinforced India’s commitment to strengthening ties with the US. The discussions set the stage for deeper economic, technological, and strategic collaboration in the future.
