Two hours after the state’s assembly election counting started, at 10 a.m., the incumbent Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) led the early trends.
Trends during the first round of counting in the Madhya Pradesh assembly’s 200 out of 230 seats indicated that the BJP was leading in more than 100 seats, surpassing the Congress, which was ahead in roughly 90.
As of 10 a.m., only 4% of the state’s votes had been counted, and the trends are probably going to change throughout the day. Officials from the election commission stated that the state will have between 16 and 24 rounds of counting.
Leading from their respective constituencies were BJP leaders Prahlad Patel and Narottam Mishra, Congress state president Kamal Nath, and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
“Bhartiya Janata Party is going to form the government again with full majority,” stated Chouhan in a post on X, the former Twitter platform.
“I have complete faith in the people of Madhya Pradesh that they will protect their future,” Nath remarked in the interim.
The biggest of the five states that participated in the current elections is Madhya Pradesh, where the BJP, which has ruled the state for 18 of the past 20 years, and the Congress, which sought to take advantage of the anti-incumbency sentiment to unseat chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, will square off.

Most exit polls indicated that the Congress and the ruling BJP would fight it out in a fierce fashion; two gave the Congress the advantage, one gave the BJP the advantage, and two predicted a dead heat. However, two other well-known polls, Today’s Chanakya-News 24 and IndiaToday-AxisMyIndia were the anomalies, projecting a landslide victory for the BJP and a crushing defeat for the Congress.
