EAM Jaishankar Reiterates India’s Call For Early End To Ukraine Conflict In Talks with Polish FM

EAM S Jaishankar spoke with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski over the phone, reiterating India’s position that the Ukraine conflict must end swiftly through a durable solution.

Spoke to Foreign Minister @sikorskiradek of Poland today. He shared his concern about recent developments pertaining to Poland’s security. I underlined that India favors an early end to hostilities and a durable solution for the Ukraine conflict,” Jaishankar posted on X.

Poland Reports Drone Breach

The conversation followed Poland’s claim that Russian-made drones breached its airspace 19 times on the night of September 9.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk described the incident as a ‘large-scale provocation’ during an emergency government meeting broadcast by TVP Info.

Responding to the drone incident, the Russian Defence Ministry said on Wednesday that no facilities in Poland were targeted. It added that the UAVs allegedly crossing into Poland had a maximum range of 700 km.

“However, we are ready to hold consultations with the Polish Defence Ministry on this matter,” the Russian Defence Ministry said.

Reaffirming its position, India urged all parties to engage constructively to secure lasting peace.

“We welcome all the recent efforts towards establishing peace in Ukraine. We hope that all parties will proceed in a constructive manner. India supports an early end to the conflict and the establishment of an enduring peace,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said at a weekly press briefing in New Delhi last week.

PM Modi Highlights Global Call for Peace

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently underlined India’s stand on a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict.

During a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin last week, PM Modi welcomed recent peace efforts.

“We welcome all the recent efforts in the direction of resolving the conflict. Also, we hope that all the involved parties will proceed further constructively. We will have to figure out ways to end the conflict as soon as possible to restore regional stability and peace. This is the call of the entire humanity,” PM Modi said.
