
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met the visiting Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, who also serves as Brazil’s Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services.
Both leaders explored avenues to enhance bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, energy, connectivity, health, and technology.
Following the meeting, EAM Jaishankar posted on X, “A pleasure meeting Geraldo Alckmin, Vice-President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services of Brazil. Discussed the potential for greater cooperation in trade, investment, energy, connectivity, health and technology.”

The meeting follows prior discussions on Thursday, when Vice President CP Radhakrishnan met his Brazilian counterpart.
Talks centred on strengthening energy cooperation, deepening partnerships in pharmaceuticals and defence, boosting research investments, improving connectivity, and collaborating in emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digitalisation.
In a statement on X, the Vice President’s office noted, “Vice-President of India, CP Radhakrishnan, met Geraldo Alckmin, Vice-President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services of Brazil, who is on an official visit to India, at the Vice-President’s Enclave today.”
“The two leaders expressed optimism about strengthening trade and economic ties and discussed cooperation in energy, pharmaceuticals, defence, research, connectivity, and emerging technologies,” the statement added.

Trade and Investment Initiatives
India and Brazil also explored ways to deepen trade and investment across energy, agriculture, and technology sectors during a meeting between Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Vice President Alckmin in New Delhi.
After the discussion, Goyal stated, “We reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral trade ties while reaffirming our shared commitment to deepen cooperation and investment across diverse sectors, including energy, healthcare, agriculture, and technology.” He added, “Shared democratic values and a common vision for inclusive and sustainable growth underpin our partnership.”
The meeting coincided with World Food Day, and Goyal noted that the discussions celebrated the India–Brazil partnership and recognised the contribution of farmers in strengthening global food security.
The high-level meetings between Indian and Brazilian leaders highlight a renewed focus on trade, investment, and technological collaboration.
Both nations aim to strengthen strategic partnerships, foster sustainable growth, and promote innovation in areas such as AI, digitalisation, and research development.
The discussions reaffirm India and Brazil’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation, laying the groundwork for continued engagement in the coming years.
