Dr. Rajeshwar Singh has praised the recent updates made by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in the textbooks up to class 12. Singh, who represents the Sarojininagar assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh and has a long history of public service, believes these changes in the Class 12 Political Science book provide a clearer understanding of India’s history and geopolitics. He asserts that these revisions will guide students towards a better education and a promising future.
One significant update in the NCERT books is the inclusion of the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, the term “Azad Kashmir,” used in Pakistan, has been replaced with “Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.”
Dr. Rajeshwar Singh highlighted on Twitter that the books now refer to the Babri Masjid dispute as the “Dispute of Ayodhya.” The Babri Masjid is described as a “3-domed structure,” and the Ayodhya dispute is depicted as an amicably resolved issue.
He also noted a change in the description of the border conflict with China. Previously referred to as a “military conflict on the border between the two countries,” it is now described as the “Chinese invasion on the Indian border.” According to Singh, these revisions will enhance students’ knowledge, help them understand India’s past better, and contribute to shaping a brighter future for the youth.
