Sarojini Nagar MLA Dr Rajeshwar Singh organised a large religious gathering, ‘Dharm Utsav @ Sarojini Nagar’, at Natkur ground in Lucknow on April 22, drawing around 15,000 attendees from across the constituency. The event featured a devotional performance by Kanhaiya Mittal.
The programme began with a ceremonial lamp lighting and an opening performance by Kishor Chaturvedi. Attendees then welcomed Dr Rajeshwar Singh on his arrival.
During the event, Dr Rajeshwar Singh honoured Kanhaiya Mittal with a shawl and a memento. Suresh Khanna was present, along with other senior leaders, and also took part in felicitating the singer.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Rajeshwar Singh spoke about development and cultural initiatives in the constituency, including the renovation and beautification of 220 temples. He also referred to the Ram Rath Shravan Yatra, under which residents were facilitated to visit Ayodhya.
Kanhaiya Mittal, during his address, proposed organising a ‘Shyam Rath Yatra’ from Lucknow and suggested building a Khatu Shyam temple in the city. Dr Rajeshwar Singh accepted both proposals.
Participation of Leaders and Representatives
The event saw participation from BJP mandal presidents Mohit Tiwari, Vivek Rajput, KK Srivastava, Dal Bahadur Singh, Vinod Kumar Maurya, and Ramakant ‘Rajan’ Mishra, who also felicitated Kanhaiya Mittal.
Councillors Lavkush Rawat, Kaushalendra Dwivedi, Saurabh Singh ‘Monu’, Kamlesh Singh, Vimal Tiwari, Ketan Singh, Neha Singh, Ram Naresh Rawat, Geeta Devi, Sanjeev Awasthi, Manoj Rawat, Brajmohan Sharma, Himanshu Ambedkar, Satguru Sharan Rawat, Amit Kumar, and Hanuman Pal were also present during the ceremony.
Senior local figures, including Shiv Shankar Awasthi, Rajesh Singh Chauhan, Shiv Shankar Singh ‘Shankar’, Govind Pandey, Rajkumar Singh, Colonel Daya Shankar Dubey, Pappu Tiwari, Rajkumar Patel, Rakesh Rawat, Block Pramukh Sunil Rawat, Ramashankar Tripathi, and Pushkar Shukla, attended the programme.
Arrangements for security, parking, and drinking water were in place for the event, officials said.
Devotees from various villages and towns in Sarojini Nagar participated, and offerings went out at the end.
In his concluding remarks, Dr Rajeshwar Singh thanked attendees and said such events contribute to cultural engagement and community participation in the constituency.
