Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Dinesh Sharma recently criticized opposition parties, calling them a “gathering of critics” against Sanatan Dharma and the Maha Kumbh.
He asserted that the record-breaking number of pilgrims at the Kumbh had proven these parties wrong, highlighting how people from all castes were uniting to honour their faith.
He pointed out that the opposition’s attempts to create divisions in the name of religion were futile, especially given the overwhelming success and unity demonstrated at the event.
Economic Impact Of The Maha Kumbh
Dr. Dinesh Sharma highlighted the Maha Kumbh’s economic importance, expecting it to generate nearly ₹3 lakh crore for Uttar Pradesh.
He praised the development of religious tourism in Uttar Pradesh, noting that infrastructure improvements and enhanced connectivity, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath, had led to new job opportunities and strengthened the state’s economy.
Proposal For Rajasthan’s Religious Tourism Growth
During a meeting with Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, Dr. Sharma suggested that the state replicate Uttar Pradesh’s religious tourism model.
He proposed a joint initiative to improve infrastructure around key religious sites in Rajasthan, such as Khatu Dham, Jeen Mata Mandir, and Shakambhari Mata Mandir.
With the support of the central government, Dr. Sharma recommended constructing wider roads, sewage systems, expressways, and power networks to promote tourism and generate employment opportunities.
Dr. Sharma also pointed out that, just as Uttar Pradesh’s religious tourism had boosted its economy, Rajasthan could leverage its religious sites, which attract devotees year-round.
He emphasized that the state could significantly boost its tourism income by capitalizing on the footfall, just as Uttar Pradesh is expected to gain economic benefits after the Kumbh.
Dr. Sharma’s remarks and proposals underline his belief in the power of religious tourism to drive economic growth and social unity.
His push for enhanced infrastructure around Rajasthan’s religious sites signals a new approach to combining faith with economic prosperity, reflecting the success of Uttar Pradesh’s religious tourism model.
