Double Decker Bus, Milk Tanker Crash Kills 18 In UP’s Unnao, PM Announces Ex-Gratia

Ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF has been announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the surviving family members of the deceased in the bus-tanker disaster in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, which claimed the lives of eighteen persons.

Each injured person would receive Rs 50,000.

The double decker bus was coming from Sitamarhi in Bihar and was going to Delhi.

According to the details shared by officials, the Bus hit the tanker from behind near Garha Village.

The bus was nearly completely destroyed in the crash, and people who were travelling in it were thrown from the vehicle.

To rescue victims and transport the injured to hospitals, police and other emergency workers rushed to the scene.

Images from the site showed broken glass, twisted metal pieces, dispersed bodies, and damaged possessions of travellers

The authorities are looking into the causes behind the accident.

Dayashankar Singh, the minister of transport for Uttar Pradesh, took the suo-motu cognizance. He also sent his condolences to the surviving family members.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister, has also expressed his sorrow over the disaster and gave instructions to officials to make sure the injured receive the proper treatment.

Among the people killed were one child and three women.
