Madhya Pradesh: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that a social revolution is taking place in Madhya Pradesh for women’s empowerment. Schemes like Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, Ladli Laxmi Yojana, 50 percent reservation for women in local elections, reservation in police recruitment, livelihood mission, and Sambal are being implemented successfully. Now the Ladli Bahna Yojana has been started, which will not only lead to the overall development of women but will also add to their respect and self-confidence in society.

Shri Chouhan was addressing the Ladli Bahna Sammelan at Lanji in Balaghat district today. He distributed benefits under various schemes to the women whom he refers as sisters. Initially, the Chief Minister performed Kanya-Pujan and welcomed the sisters by showering flowers who further presented Rakhi to him. Thereafter he handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to sister Anjali Choure, who runs Didi Cafe under the National Rural Livelihood Mission.

Sisters giving rakhi to Shivraj Mama

CM Chouhan said that the aim of my life is the welfare of these sisters. If there is a smile on their lips, then the life of the brother (him) is successful. The respect for women is highest in Madhya Pradesh. He then said, “Sisters don’t tolerate any kind of injustice, your brother is always with you. Don’t worry about the marriage of sisters and daughters, Shivraj Mama will get them married.”

“Before becoming the Chief Minister, my wife and I used to help poor daughters get married. When I became the CM, I first started the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana. The previous government did not give the benefit of this scheme to anyone. Now we have decided that under this scheme a cheque of Rs 50,000 will be given to the daughters and Rs 6,000 to the organizing body”, he stated further.

The filling of forms for the Ladli Bahna Yojana will start on March 25 and will continue till April 30. Money will start coming into the accounts of the sisters on coming 10th of June. Shri Chouhan clearly said that there is no need to give any amount to anyone to take benefits of the scheme. In each case for e-KYC, the government will give Rs 15 to the organization for the same. If any person demands any amount from the sisters, then complain about it immediately on 181, and action will be taken against that person. He also said that women should play their part in the implementation of the scheme by joining the “Ladli Bahna Sena”.

The Chief Minister called upon sisters of the state to raise their voices against domestic violence, social evils, and injustice. He said that from coming April 1, all liquor vends will be closed in the state.
