Donald Trump Jr, visiting India as a guest of the Ambani family, arrived in Jamnagar, Gujarat, where he toured prominent temples and later visited the Vantara wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre.
His visit highlighted the growing global attention on the Ambani family’s conservation and philanthropic initiatives.
Trump Jr toured the sprawling 3,000-acre Vantara campus, located adjacent to the Reliance Jamnagar Refinery Complex.
The project, personally led by Anant Ambani, aims to provide world-class care, rehabilitation, and long-term conservation support to rescued wildlife.
Trump Jr expressed awe at the project’s scale, calling it ‘incredible’ and noting that ‘these animals live better than I live’.
Praise for Conservation Vision
In a video message, Trump Jr lauded Vantara’s commitment to welfare and scientific care. He said the campus offers animals a habitat that truly mirrors the wild, adding, “You see a life in their eyes that you just don’t see anywhere else.”
He urged travellers from around the world to visit, describing Vantara as ‘truly a wonder of the world’ and applauding the Ambani family’s vision, calling it unlike anything he had ever witnessed.
Vantara’s facilities include a cutting-edge animal hospital and research centre covering more than one lakh square feet.
The hospital is equipped with MRI and CT scan units, an ICU, endoscopy suites, dialysis facilities, and advanced OR1 surgical systems, placing it among the most sophisticated wildlife medical centres globally.
The centre has already rescued nearly 200 leopards injured in road accidents or human–wildlife conflicts, providing long-term rehabilitation and medical treatment. It has also relocated over 1,000 crocodiles from an overcrowded facility in Tamil Nadu, easing pressure on local ecosystems and improving the reptiles’ living conditions.
During his visit, Trump Jr was accompanied by his partner, Bettina Anderson.
Together with Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, he attended a private dandiya gathering hosted by the Ambani family, where he joined in the traditional Gujarati celebrations.
