DK Shivakumar To Take Oath As Karnataka Chief Minister Today In Bengaluru

DK Shivakumar will officially assume the role of Karnataka Chief Minister during a swearing-in ceremony scheduled for 4:05 PM on Wednesday at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan, Bengaluru.

Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Shivakumar and his Council of Ministers.

The event will likely witness the presence of several senior Congress leaders. These include Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi. AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal and Karnataka affairs in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala are also likely to attend.

Several Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers, state Congress chiefs, Members of Parliament, and senior party functionaries from across the country are also likely to attend.

Organisers have extended invitations to a wide range of community representatives, signalling the new administration’s intention to engage with all sections of society.

Guests include religious leaders from multiple faiths, students from the Government School in Doddalahalli, and daily-wage earners. Civic workers, farmer representatives, and members of Dalit and backwards-class organisations will also attend the event. Women’s self-help groups and youth leaders are among the invited guests as well.

The invitation list also features members of the media, the judicial community, and the film industry. Representatives from sporting circles, theatre groups, and the literary community have also been invited. Artists, entrepreneurs, industrialists, and representatives of the hospitality sector are among the attendees as well.

Ahead of taking office, Shivakumar described the opportunity as a responsibility entrusted to him by the people and the Congress party. He said he would work tirelessly despite the challenges that may arise during his tenure.

Highlighting Karnataka’s national and global importance, Shivakumar stressed the need to ensure that development reaches every section of society. He pledged to focus on the welfare of farmers, women, and young people while promoting inclusive growth across the state.

Looking back on his political career, Shivakumar said the journey to the Chief Minister’s post had required patience and persistence. He credited Congress workers for their unwavering support and said the achievement reflected the party’s democratic values.

Shivakumar’s swearing-in marks the start of a new administration in Karnataka with a stated focus on development, inclusion, and public participation.
