DIP Issues Recovery Notice
The Directorate of Information and Publicity (DIP) has issued a notice to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal to pay up to Rs 164 crore within 10 days. The development comes a month after Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena directed the chief secretary to recover Rs 97 crore from the AAP for political advertisements it published in the guise of government advertisements.

In a tweet by news agency ANI, it said, “Delhi | The Directorate of Information and Publicity (DIP) issued a recovery notice of Rs 164 crores to the National convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal. The amount needs to be paid within 10 days: Sources.”

AAP’s Property To Be Attached For Recovery
It is unclear if more recovery orders will be issued for the financial years 2016-2017 to 2022-23 or not.
According to the reports, if AAP fails to pay the money, legal action will be taken per LG’s orders. The properties owned by the party can be attached for recovery as part of the legal action as per the law.
On the other hand, after this recovery notice, neither the Delhi Government nor any party leader has given any response on this note.
Allegations On Aam Aadmi Party
From time to time, AAP has been accused of spending taxpayers’ money on political advertisements. Not only in Delhi but similar spending was also seen in the case of the AAP-led Punjab government as well.
Before Gujarat Assembly Elections, a media reported that Punjab Government paid for Facebook ads targeting audiences from Gujarat. Over one crore was spent on such ads.

“The BJP is flustered that we have become a national party and wrested power from it in the MCD. LG sahab is doing everything in accordance with the BJP’s directions and that is troubling the people of Delhi. The more worried Delhi’s people are, the happier the BJP gets,” Bhardwaj had claimed.
He had further said that the LG’s directions would not stand in the eyes of law.
