Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised Pimpri-Chinchwad Police for achieving the state’s fastest response time on the emergency helpline Dial 112, with officers reaching emergency locations within an average of three minutes.
Speaking at a ceremony organised by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, Fadnavis congratulated the entire force for its achievements in just eight years since its establishment. He said the commissionerate had secured the top position among Maharashtra’s police commissionerates through collective dedication and commitment.
The Maharashtra CM said the quick response had strengthened public confidence and improved security, particularly for women and senior citizens, while helping police respond promptly to criminal incidents.
The event highlighted the force’s digital citizen engagement initiatives.
Following an anti-drug awareness town hall in October, Fadnavis led an anti-drug oath-taking ceremony that brought together more than 48,000 citizens across 423 groups through Google Meet.
Fadnavis inaugurated 350 body cameras, 65 patrol vehicles and four drones, alongside an AI-based investigation system, CCTV network and Integrated Traffic Management System. He further laid the foundation stone for the Pimpri Police Complex, which will house the Zone-1 and Anti-Narcotics Task Force offices, along with 200 staff residences.
Deputy Chief Minister and Pune Guardian Minister Sunetra Pawar highlighted another major infrastructure milestone with the handover of the 7/12 land extract for the proposed police headquarters at Tathawade.
CM Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde joined Pawar in handing over the document to Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey.
The proposed headquarters will expand police infrastructure to meet future needs.
Fadnavis said Pimpri-Chinchwad’s population could surpass Pune’s within 15 years, stressing the need for technology-driven policing.
Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar attended the event.
