Delhi Speaker Presents Coffee Table Book On Legislative Legacy To PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, who presented him with a specially curated coffee table book highlighting the parliamentary legacy of the national capital’s legislature.

The publication, ‘Delhi Legislative Assembly presents Shatabdi-Yatra, Veer Vithalbhai Patel,’ is dedicated to Vitthalbhai Patel — the first Indian to be elected Speaker of the Central Legislative Assembly. The book traces India’s parliamentary evolution from 1925 to 2025.

Gupta said the book captures a hundred years of India’s democratic development, bringing together rare archival photographs, historic records, and defining moments that shaped the nation’s parliamentary practices through the 20th century and beyond.

One of the central features of the volume is its detailed account of the 2025 All India Speakers’ Conference, held to mark the centenary of Vitthalbhai Patel’s election as Speaker — a milestone widely regarded as a turning point in India’s legislative history.

PM Briefed On Digital, Audit And Green Initiatives

During the interaction, Gupta informed the Prime Minister that the Assembly’s Audit Para Monitoring System (APMS) is now fully operational across the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi — making Delhi possibly the first state legislature to adopt a comprehensive, real-time audit monitoring platform.

He also updated PM Modi on key reforms such as the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), which has made the Delhi Assembly a fully digital and paperless House, along with its successful transition to a completely solar-powered green legislature.

Gupta further noted that the Assembly complex is being developed as a Heritage Site, a move aimed at preserving its democratic legacy and opening its historic halls to the general public. The initiative will allow citizens to experience the institution’s evolution and its enduring role in India’s parliamentary democracy.
