The national capital experienced its highest maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, marking a three-notch increase above the season’s average, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to Kuldeep Srivastava, a scientist and head of the Regional Meteorological Center, temperatures are anticipated to climb to nearly 40 degrees Celsius this week. However, he assured that there won’t be a heatwave affecting the capital, as Delhi may witness rainfall activities on April 13 and 14, accompanied by thunderstorms.
“As April, May, and June mark the peak of summer, temperatures are expected to soar up to 40 degrees Celsius next week,” Srivastava added.
This summer season, the second-highest maximum temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius was recorded on March 30.
The weather forecast for Wednesday predicts a partly cloudy sky, with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to reach 38 and 19 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Meanwhile, Najafgarh in Delhi recorded a high temperature of 39.7 degrees Celsius at 6:30 pm, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
