In a recent submission to the High Court, the Delhi Police have raised serious concerns regarding the authenticity of disability certificates submitted by former Maharashtra IAS Probationary Officer Puja MD Khedkar.
According to official sources, Khedkar provided two separate disability certificates one from 2018 and another from 2021 for her attempts at the UPSC exams in 2022 and 2023, both reportedly issued by Ahmednagar District Civil Hospital.
The Delhi Police’s latest report indicates that the Ahmednagar District Civil Authority has disclaimed any issuance of the ‘multiple disabilities’ certificate.
The authorities have stated that the Ahmednagar Civil Surgeon’s Office did not issue the Disability Certificate (Multiple Disability) with No. MH2610119900342407, suggesting that the certificate may forged or fabricated.
Khedkar had alleged that she suffered from various physical and mental health issues and purportedly utilized these certificates to gain advantages under disability quotas for the Civil Services Examinations.
After passing the CSE-2022, Khedkar joined the 2023 Maharashtra cadre and took up the role of IAS-PO in Pune. Controversy during her tenure led to her reassignment to Washim.
The controversy escalated on 31 July when the UPSC removed Khedkar from the IAS list, permanently barred her from future examinations, and filed a police complaint.
Khedkar has contested these actions.
Earlier, on July 19, the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy for Administration (LBSNAA) had annulled her field training assignments and ordered her return by 23 July, which she failed to comply with.
Currently, Khedkar is under scrutiny in Maharashtra and at the Centre for various alleged misconducts.
She has remained largely silent over the past few months, while her parents are also entangled in legal issues within the state.
