Delhi Police has rejected allegations of mistreatment levelled by Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Deepke, presenting video footage at a press conference to counter the claims. During an emergency press conference on Sunday, Delhi Police PRO and DCP Neha Yadav addressed allegations of misconduct and explained the circumstances surrounding Deepke’s detention.
The police released CCTV footage and a video purportedly showing officers expressing condolences after learning about the death of Deepke’s grandmother. According to Neha Yadav, senior officers approached Deepke and offered assistance, including arranging a flight ticket so he could travel home. They also asked whether he wanted to speak to his parents immediately.
However, Deepke reportedly declined the assistance offered by the officers. The police maintained that their actions demonstrated sensitivity towards his personal loss, contradicting the allegations of mistreatment made by the organisation.
#WATCH | Delhi | DCP Neha Yadav says, “As soon as the Delhi Police received information about the passing away of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) Founder Abhijeet Dipke’s grandmother, officers approached him to convey this sad news and offered all possible assistance. They sensitively asked if he needed help with flights, phone calls, or anything else. They repeatedly asked if he wished to speak to his parents, but he declined…Regarding CJP, their past conduct showed a failure to adhere to previously given undertakings and local directives. When permission was granted previously, they did not abide by the law; the crowd they mobilized engaged in heavy stone-pelting, arson, and violence, causing significant damage to public property. Permission for the proposed sit-in protest at Janpath was denied due to the failure to follow prescribed procedures, a history of non-compliance with laws and guidelines, and the prevailing security and law-and-order situation. To ensure Delhi’s security and protect the lives and property of its citizens, Section 133 BNSS was imposed in several areas of the city, prohibiting any form of gathering or protest. Abhijeet Dipke and two of their associates were detained on October 10 in connection with a call for a protest at Janpath as permission for the demonstration had not been granted”

Delhi Police also explained why it denied CJP permission to hold a demonstration at Jantar Mantar. Neha Yadav said the organisation’s previous protest had raised serious law-and-order concerns. According to the police, the earlier gathering involved stone-pelting, arson and violence, resulting in significant damage to public property.
Delhi Police said it denied permission for another gathering to prevent law-and-order problems. Authorities imposed restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in sensitive areas.
Despite the restrictions, Deepke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka allegedly called for an unauthorised gathering. Police detained them on 10 October.
A magistrate later released the CJP leaders subject to conditions. Police warned that further attempts to disrupt public order could lead to legal action, including bail cancellation, subject to the court’s orders.
