Delhi Police Deport 12 Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants In Ongoing Crackdown

The Delhi Police have deported 12 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants who were residing in the national capital without valid documentation, authorities confirmed. The deportations are part of a broader effort to address the growing concerns about the unauthorised presence of migrants, particularly Bangladeshi nationals, in the city.

To tackle the rising issue of illegal immigration, the Delhi Police have intensified operations, including verification drives and joint inspections across the South-East district. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East Delhi), Ravi Kumar Singh, revealed that the police team in the district is actively searching for illegal Bangladeshi nationals. “So far, we have arrested 12 Bangladeshi nationals who were illegally residing in the national capital,” he said.

After investigating nearly 1,200 individuals, the police arrested 12 illegal Bangladeshi nationals and transferred them to detention camps. DCP Singh confirmed that the search operation is ongoing as part of a sustained crackdown.

Deportation Orders Follow Special Drive Announcement

The first official deportation order was issued by the South-West Delhi Police, marking a significant step in the city’s effort to deport unauthorized immigrants. This action followed the announcement by the Lieutenant Governor (LG) Secretariat, which launched a special drive to identify and deport illegal immigrants from Delhi. The operation, aim at curbing the growing influx of Bangladeshi nationals, gain strength after the political upheaval in Bangladesh in August, which increase migration.

In response to the rising number of undocumented immigrants, the Delhi Police further deployed a special team comprising officers from local police stations and special units. This team has been conducting comprehensive searches and gathering intelligence to locate and identify illegal immigrants.

As part of a verification drive, police conducted door-to-door checks across nearly 400 families. Officers collected documents from residents and sent verification forms to their addresses in West Bengal.

Arrests And Deportations Following Verification

During the drive, eight Bangladeshi nationals were identified, arrested, and deported through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). Among those deported was Samsul Seikh, who confessed to entering India undetected through dense forests after leaving Dhaka. He later returned to Bangladesh, bringing his wife, Parina Begam, and their six children with him.

Further investigations revealed that the family had destroyed their Bangladeshi identification documents to avoid detection by authorities. The police’s ongoing verification efforts aim to identify and deport more illegal migrants from Delhi in the coming days.

This deportation of 12 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants is part of a larger initiative by the Delhi Police to identify and deport undocumented migrants in the capital. The police have assured that the search operations will continue, as they work to secure the city from illegal immigration.
