The Delhi High Court will hear a plea on October 23, challenging the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case. Kejriwal faces allegations of money laundering.
ED Argues Petition is Redundant
A bench of Justices Pratibha M Singh and Amit Sharma noted that Kejriwal’s response to the ED isn’t on record. Kejriwal’s lawyer said the reply had been filed, but the ED insisted the petition is now redundant due to his earlier arrest. The court adjourned the hearing and asked for the reply to be recorded.
Kejriwal Out on Interim Bail
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 but is currently on interim bail. The Supreme Court has reserved its decision on his bail in the related corruption case, which the CBI is investigating. The ED claims Kejriwal was involved in framing the excise policy, benefiting certain individuals and leading to bribes for the AAP.
