The Delhi High Court has directed the Delhi Police to submit a status report regarding the death of a man due to electric shock from an electric wire at the
in Delhi. The court has given the police one month to file this report, with the next hearing scheduled for December 6.
During the proceedings, the court emphasized the need for the Kalkaji temple management to implement adequate measures to control the crowd. The High Court expressed its displeasure, noting that there were fatalities during last year’s Navratri celebrations as well. The court described the situation as “very bad,” given that similar incidents have recurred this year.

The tragic incident occurred during preparations for Navratri when a rod became electrified while installing hydrogen lights. Mayank, a resident of Ghaziabad, tragically lost his life due to electrocution while visiting the temple with his family. His father works as a plumber.
In addition to Mayank’s death, six other individuals suffered injuries during a subsequent stampede. The police have registered a case under multiple sections of the law, specifically sections 289, 125 (9), and 106 (1) of the BNS, and have initiated an investigation into the incident.
The High Court’s intervention highlights ongoing safety concerns at the temple, urging responsible authorities to take immediate action to prevent further tragedies during the upcoming festival season.
