The Delhi High Court has ordered the Delhi government to submit a detailed report on the current structure and staffing of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW). The court instructed the government to analyze how it utilizes officially sanctioned positions and to clarify the operational status of essential services such as the Rape Crisis Cell, Crisis Intervention Cell, Anti-Human Trafficking and Rehabilitation Cell, Acid Watch and Rehabilitation Cell, Sahyogi Cell, and Mobile Helpline.
HC asks details and number of employees
Justice Sanjeev Narula has directed the Delhi government’s Women and Child Development Department to file a comprehensive affidavit or staff report within two weeks. The report should detail the number of employees, their roles, and the DCW’s structure, including the functions of both permanent and contractual staff. Additionally, the affidavit must provide an analysis of how the sanctioned posts are being used and assess the contribution of third-party staff hired through contractors.
The court scheduled the next hearing for October 21. This case stems from a petition filed by 49 contractual employees of the DCW, whose services the Delhi government terminated with an order dated April 29. The government cited financial and administrative irregularities within the DCW as the reason for the immediate dismissal of these employees.
